Chat Support

  • Fast loading times for your WordPress blog for $2.99
  • Good customer support once you are a client
  • Good and easy to follow documentation

  • Not so good chat support
  • Bad user experience
  • You have to rely on customer support for every step

In this HostNoc review you will find that you will have a fast loading time for your WordPress blog in its most basic shared hosting plan but the user experience is not good.

You know I don´t support hosting companies wanting you to pay for one year upfront. I don’t think that is a good practice for companies.

I was looking for good hosting companies with cheap prices and with monthly payment plans when I found HostNoc, a Canadian hosting company.

Note: this review contains affiliate links, which means I make a small commission if you end up signing up to HostNoc—at no extra cost to you.

What is HostNoc?

HostNoc is a company which offers dedicated servers, cloud hosting, a virtual private server, a business VPN, web hosting (shared hosting) and cybersecurity.

What I liked about HostNoc at first glance was its cheap prices and the features you can get in the most basic shared hosting plan.

I know that I told you that cloud hosting is the best solution for your blog, but if you don’t want to try it you can start your blogging journey with a good hosting company who have a monthly payment and shared hosting plan.

What I care most about in a good hosting provider is the loading speed. So to give you an honest review I am going to test the most basic plan HostNoc offer and give you my impressions.

HostNoc Prices for Web Hosting (Shared Hosting)

One good thing about the shared hosting plans from HostNoc is that you can choose between: Linux Shared Hosting and Windows Shared Hosting.

What is the difference between Linux Shared Hosting and Windows Shared Hosting?

Linux is a free open source system. It is the most used operating system for hosting companies because they don’t have to worry about license fees.

Linux hosting is compatible with PHP and MySQL, which supports scripts such as WordPress, Zen Cart, and phpBB.

Windows hosting uses the Windows Operating System, as the server’s operating system and the hosting companies must pay a license fee.

Windows hosting is good to use if you use Windows-specific technologies such as ASP, .NET, Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL server (MSSQL).

Linux shared hosting is more affordable for you because hosting companies don’t have to pay a license fee.

Linux shared hosting pricing

Like I told you, these are monthly payment plans without any contract. You can see that you get good features in the $2.99 monthly plan. Like:

2 GB

Unmetered bandwidth

Free SSL certificate

Standard performance

5 parked domains (you can have or redirect to your hosting)

25 sub domains

25 email accounts

5 MySQL database

Spam assassin

99% uptime guarantee

Online 24/7/365 support

But if you choose the $4.99 monthly plan you have backup. At this price, having backup is a good deal.

These are the plans for Windows shared hosting:

If you want a hosting plan for a WordPress blog, a Linux shared hosting plan is more than enough.

But if you are going to use specific Windows stuff then you will need the Windows hosting plan.

Let’s start this HostNoc review

For this HostNoc review I am going to buy the most basic Linux shared hosting plan.

You will see the requirements needed to have a HostNoc account, then after the basic installation I will test the loading speed.

I am eager to test the loading speed because HostNoc says: “Our latest SSD servers, equipped with high-speed network connectivity and fast processors, can grant you access to blazing fast performance, irrespective of which content management system you use to host your website or apps on”.

First let’s test the chat support

One important thing in a hosting company is the chat support.

So, let´s test it in this Hostnoc review

For the test I asked a simple question: what is the difference between Linux hosting and Windows hosting?

chat support hostnoc

Those three dots. You and I may have different interpretations of those three dots, but a seller cannot leave anything to interpretation, rather the seller must encourage the purchase.

After Freddy answered my question he didn’t do a sales speech or send me a link to purchase the hosting directly.

It was a not so good experience with chat support.

Let´s see how it goes this Hostnoc review

Open an account

Let me show you, in this Hostnoc review how easy is to start an account.

To start an account you must select the plan you want and click on Order Now.

A review & checkout window will appear. You must review your order and click on Checkout

After that you will have to fill in the requested information.

Once you have paid you will have your order confirmation.

And you will have access to the dashboard.

Let me tell you what happened here in this Hostnoc review.

I couldn’t find the hosting that I had recently purchased. That was odd.

On Services and I found this:

Hosting pending hostnoc

So, I couldn´t understand what was going on.

Because, the purchase was done at 6:14 pm.

hostnoc email welcome

After half an hour I knew what had happened when this email arrived:

hostnoc email sent credit card authorization

Yes, I received that email half an hour later.

I have to be honest with you in this HostNoc review. I was a little suspicious about sending my credit card information because I had already made the purchase (the payment was through Stripe).

So after thinking about it, I sent the information and the domain name 4 hours later. (10:23 pm).

The next day at 4:13 am, I got the email with the information to access my cPanel. Let me tell you, in this Hostnoc review, It was a good thing that the HostNoc team took care of linking the domain name with the hosting.

Hosting cPanel hostnoc

Let me show you in this Hostnoc review, how the cPanel looks like:

Hostnoc cPanel new

But I couldn’t find the application to install WordPress.

no install wordpress hostnoc

From reading the knowledgebase I know that there is an application called Softaculous that helps install WordPress with one click.

softaculous hostnoc

What I did was open a ticket to inform customer support that I didn’t have that app in my cPanel.

In less than 3 hours I had Softaculous on my cPanel.

softaculous installed

Installing WordPress on HostNoc

I have to tell you, in this Hostnoc review, that installing WordPress with Softaculous is very easy.

First you have to click on the WordPress logo and you will see this screen:

softaculous wordpress

Then you have to click on Install Now and you will see this screen:

softaculous wordpress quick install

As you can see, the domain name is ready to use.

In Site Settings you can name your blog.

And in Admin Account you have to change the admin username and the admin password.

Then the only thing you have to do is click on Quick Install.

The installation took less than a minute.

And you will have your WordPress blog hosting on HostNoc.

wordpress ready

Now let me tell you, what happened, in this Hostnoc review.

This was the first look at the blog.

wordpress ready 1

The final step is about the domain name

In the email I got about the login to the cPanel, I missed something, this:

kindly set these nameservers on your registrar end.

To do that is easy. As you know, the best place to buy a cheap domain name is Namecheap.

In Namecheap you go to your dashboard, select your domain name, and in Nameservers select Custom DNS. It has to look exactly like this:

namecheap custom dns

With that last step you can login to your blog.

And you will see this:

wordpress blog finally ready

Remember when you finish the installation of your blog you will see a congratulations, beneath that you can find the URL to enter your blog.

wordpress login

And that’s all about the WordPress intallation in this Hostnoc review.

That was the same step by step I did to have a blog in HostNoc.

Now it is time to test the HostNoc share hosting basic plan.

Testing HostNoc Hosting

Now in this Hostnoc review I am goint to test the hosting solution

For testing the performance of the hosting I am going to use GTmetrix for this HostNoc review.

First I am going to test the brand new blog without any content with the test server in Canada.

GT Metrix Canada test hostnoc

The performance of the test is good, 1.4 seconds of loading time is very good.

Now, in this Hostnoc review, let’s test with the server in the USA:

GT Metrix USA test hostnoc

Again, good performance.

Now I am going to write a post with photos to test the performance again.

With the server in Canada:

GT Metrix Canada test post hostnoc

With the server in the USA:

GT Metrix USA test post hostnoc

After this test I am thinking that the data center of HostNoc is in the USA. The loading time was less than a second.

Conclusions for this HostNoc Review:

The good thing is for just $2.99 you can have fast loading times for your WordPress blog in HostNoc, but keep in mind that this is a shared hosting.

The bad thing about HostNoc is that the whole process of activating a WordPress blog was not user friendly.

In one tab I had the cPanel and in another tab I had the dashboard, that was not good.

My recommendation for HostNoc is to improve the user experience. You have a good product and provide great value for the price but it is difficult to activate a WordPress blog for someone who isn’t skilled in technology, it will be impossible for them to do it.

Also, I felt that once you are a customer the support is great, but before I didn’t feel it. The people who are in charge of the chat for non-clients must be salespeople.

All in all, my opinion is that HostNoc in this moment will give you great value for your money.
